Sexual Health Services
 
Brook and Terence Higgins Trust (THT) are commissioned by NHS Bedfordshire, to deliver Sexual Health services, across Bedfordshire. These services operate in a variety of locations and settings.
 
 
Brook provides a confidential Sexual Health service for young people aged under 25, which includes: sexual health information, contraception, Chlamydia screening, STI screening (for clients who do not have symptoms), pregnancy testing, C-Card registration, condoms and someone to talk to about a wide range of topics to with sex and relationships.  Call Brook 01234 761090 www.brook.org.uk
 
Terence Higgins Trust (THT) provides information, support and advice to all ages, about HIV and Sexual Health. Ask THT 01234 761080 www.tht.org.uk
 
 
    

 

 Brook and THT provide a confidential service which includes the following:
  • Contraception; including implants, IUD/IUS
  • Emergency contraception
  • Treatment for some STI's including Chlamydia Smear tests
  • Referral for an abortion
  • Someone to talk to about anything to do with sex and relationships
  • Pregnancy testing and impartial advice on pregnancy options
  • Cervical smears
  • C-Card Registration and free condoms
  • They can also offer advice and counselling on a range of sexual health issues
     

Sexual Health Clinics (GUM Clinic - Genito-Urinary Medicine)

  • Usually located at your local hospital
  • You can get specialist advice and treatment at a Sexual health clinic for all sexually transmitted infections
  • This is a free and confidential service and you don’t even have to give your real name if you don’t want to (it is important to remember which name you do give for when you need to return!)

Sphere clinics offer a variety of services including:
  • Sexual health information and advice
  • Various contraception methods
  • Chlamydia screening
  • HIV testing
  • Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections.

Many Sexual health clinics offer an appointment service and drop in clinics.
 
CONFIDENTIALITY applies to all sexual health services, even if you are under 16. This means that no information about you or your visit will be disclosed to anyone without your consent – this includes GPs, your parents, partners and friends.
